Thermostat problem

January 28th 2010, 6:56 pm by 91georgiapony

Ok I did some cooling system work on my car (1991 2.3) not too long after I got it. It didn't have a thermostat in it so I wanted to put in one and replace some cooling stuff. Well when I got the housing off, it was in such bad shape I decided to replace it. I when to the store to get a housing for a '91 and the one they gave me looked nothing like what I had, so we went to a '90 and it looked eve...

Bad mileage

December 11th 2009, 5:40 am by tuxstang

Get really bad mileage with my carbed 2.3l ... almost the same as the Pace Car with its 5.0l (no, not kidding) ...
Most of it should be related to a vacuum leak i'm tracking ... but while reading an old Haynes manual, i noticed something strange about initial timing.
No other my manuals (Chilton and '79 shop-manuals) tells me the factory setting and the underhood sticker is long gone...

Best oil and oil filter

August 31st 2009, 4:37 pm by Mike89

Ok In my opinion a motorcraft oil filter is the best along with castrol's 5w-30 full synthetic motor oil. Here is a good site to check oil's and oil filter's.

How to turbocharge your normally aspirated 2.3

August 18th 2009, 3:59 pm by Mike89

You can install a turbo on a N/A 2.3 but don't turn the boost up past 5-6 psi. If you do, the pistons will disintegrate! And, even running that low psi, they probably won't last very long anyway! True turbo motors came from the factory with forged pistons. Forged pistons will take the heat and pressure of forced induction. N/A pistons are made of cast metal. They're very brittle and simply can't t...

Removing the air Silencer

August 29th 2009, 8:55 am by Mike89

Ok here is a free way to make more power. There is a BIG plastic tube connecting the air cleaner housing to the throttle body. Inside that big plastic tube is a smaller diameter tube that takes it from about 2 1/2 inches to about an inch remove that smaller tube, it may take some time to remove but the better air flow will make your stang perform so much better. Or if you don't want to go threw al...
